The river’s clear water flows from Canada,
following the river’s every bend
all the way down to New York.
It has flowed through the ages without words.

All creations are born from Truth, the original foundation,
and return to the original foundation.
They are alive,

White snow blankets the mountains and streams everywhere.
Hikers who enjoy snow-scapes
Are climbing up a path piled knee-deep in snow.
I cannot see the path, but following their footprints,

The human mind is one of hunger
That tries to fill itself
With even more minds of hunger.
It is a habit of this mind to want to be filled;
But no matter how a person with this mind tries,
It can never be filled;
There is no way to know how many people have lived
In the long ages that have passed silently by.
Across the river where peach blossoms bloom,
A few tile-roofed houses
Dot through a village of thatched cottages.
